574_00001ORDINANCE NO.574 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO.565 ENTITLED "AN ORDINANCE RELATING TO THE WATER AND SEWER SYS- TEM ACQUIRED BY THE CITY AT FORMER LARSON AIR PORCEIBASE,REGULATING THE USE OF WATER THEREFROM,PRO- VIDING FOR SALE OF THE SAME,FIXING THE PRICE THEREOF, PROVIDING A METHOD OF COLLECTING CHARGES THEREFOR, AND FIXING THE METHOD OF COLLECTING FOR THE USE OP PACILITIES AND FURNISHING OF SERVICES BY THE SEWER SYSTEM AND SEWERAGE DISPOSAL PLANT,AND PROVIDING PENALTIES FOR THE VIOLATION THEREOF"BYAMENDING FIRE PROTECTION CHARGES. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MOSES LAKE DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Section 1.Section 7 of Ordinance No.565 shall be amended to read as follows: FIRE PROTECTION CHARGES (1)Those agencies or firms that control property within the areaservedbythewatersystemwillbechargedthesumof$30.00 per hydrant per year in payment to the City Water Department as reimbursement to the City for the excess water facilities required to provide fire protection services and to pay for testing and maintenance of fire hydrants .Water use through I fire hydrants in event of fire will be estimated and billed totheagenciesforwhichwaterwasusedinaccordancewiththe commercial rate structure.The City of Moses Lakerreserves the right to deactivate those hydrants located in open areaswherenobuildingcanbeservedfromthehydrant,in which event the fire protection charge will also be waived. (2)Metering shall not be required for fire protection lines running directly to buildings when used solely for furnishing water tosprinkler,deluge or other fire protective devices.A flat ratemonthlychargeshallbemadebytheCityofMosesLakein accordance with the following schedule: 2 inch fire protection line $8.402¼""11.50 3 ""15 .90 4 ""21.40 6 ""27..4D 8 ""41.40 10 "".59.40 Water flow alarms shall be provided on all fire protection sprinkleriinstallations.Such alarms shall be either water motor or electric gongs,except where alternate devices are specifically approved by the City of Moses Lake. Ordinance No.574i 2 Water used through such system in event of fire will be estimated and billed fri accordance with the commercial rate structure if consumpiton is in excess of that allowed in the foregoing schedule. (3)Water supplied to underground tanks or other private systems from I which water is pumped for fire protection service shall be metered and payment shall be made in accordance with the established rate for commercial accounts . Section 2 ..Effective Date The effective date of this Ordinance shall be December 1,1967 and the amended change shall be effective on that date.
