AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 5.2 OF THE MOSES LAKEMUNICIPALCODEENTITLED"GARBAGE COLLECTION"BY AMEND-ING SECTIONS 5.2.12 AND 5.2.60 AND REPEALING SECTIONS5.2.48 AND 5.2.71
i Section 1.Section 5.2.12 entitled "Definitions"is hereby amended by
adding thereto a new subsection to read as follows:
(j)GARBAGE UNIT:The term "Garbage Unit"shall mean secure and
tight bundles,none of which shall exceed three (3)feet in the longest
dimension,and shall not exceed seventy-five (75)pounds in weight
or such "garbage unit"may be packed in small discarded boxes,barrels,
or bags,or in securely tight cartons or other receptacles reasonably
easy to be handled and loaded by one person on to a collection vehicle.
No garbage can shall exceed seventy-five (75)pounds in weight.
Section 2.Section 5.2.60 is hereby amended to read as follows:
5.2.60 RATESAND CHARGES -EFFECTIVE DATE -SCHEDULE
All active domestic water accounts furnished water by the City of
Moses Lake shall,during the time that water is being furnished to
the premises,be assessed and pay the applicable rate for garbage
I collection under this ordinance.If premises are to be unoccupied for
a definite period of time,the owner upon prior application to the Finance
Director may receive a waiver of garbage collection charges during said
specified period.
Commencing September 1,1968,services and charges for the services
rendered shall be as follows:
RESIDENTIAL RATES:Regular service at the curb:$2.15 per month for
collection once per week.Additional or other service desired by a
customer may be arranged and paid for directly with the contractor.
MOTELS,AUTO COURTS,AND TRAILER CAMPS:Motels,auto courts,and
trailer camps shall have their garbage and refuse picked up not less than
once each week and the owner :or operator of each such motel,auto court,
or trailer camp shall provide an adequate number of cans at a central
location.Any business with a number of cans exceeding seven (7)shallIhaveadetachablecontainer.The location of cans or container shall have
the approval of the sanitation inspectar for the convenience of all tenants.
Such classified services shall be charged under the commercial rate establish-
ed for the City of Moses Lake.

COMMERCIAL RATES:(Monthly)Daily,except Sunday,30¢per can
per pickup;$2.28 per 1 cubic yard container per pickup;$2.64 per
1¼cubic yard container per pickup;$3.00 per 1¼cubic yard container
per pickup;$3.72 per 2 cubic yard container per pickup;$12.00 per
i 10 cubic yard container per pickup;$20.00 per 20 cubic yard container
per pickup.A monthly rental fee of $5.00 per container shall be charged
for each container used.
SANITARY FILL RATES:The sanitary fill for the City of Moses Lake will
be under the jurisdiction of the sanitation inspector and will be kept
open from 9 o'clock AM to 5 o'clock PM Monday through Friday.From
9 o'clock AM to 5 o'clock PM on Saturday or such hours on Saturday
as are determined necessary by the sanitation inspector.Rates for
private hauling and unloading at the said sanitary fill shall be as follows:
50¢for each car,pick-up truck,or two wheeled trailerswithoutbuiltupside-boards
$1.00 for the first cubic yard
50¢for each additional cubic yard
$2.50 for auto bodies and fuselages
I $5.00 for large animals such as horses and cows
$1.00 for small animals such as dogs and cats
Section 3.Section 5.2.48 and 5.2.71 are hereby repealed.
