ANORDINANCEREPEALINGCHAPTER2.32 OF THE MOSESLAKEMUNICIPALCODEENTITLED"POLICE DEPARTMENT"ANDREPEALINGCHAPTER2.16 OF THEMOSESLAKEMUNICIPALCODEENTITLED"FIRE DEPARTMENT"ANDENACTINGA NEWCHAPTER2.34 OF THEMOSESLAKEMUNICIPALCODEENTITLED"PUBLICSAFETY-POLICEDEPARTMENTANDFIREDEPARTMENT"
THECITY COUNCILOF THECITY OF MOSESLAKE,WASHINGTONDOORDAINAS FOLLOWS:1 Section 1.Chapter 2.32 of the Moses Lake Municipal Code entitled "PoliceDepartment"is hereby repealed in its entirety.
Section 2.Chapter 2.16 of the Moses Lake Municipal Code entitled "Fire De-partment"is hereby repealed in its entirety.
Section 3.Chapter 2.34 of the Moses Lake Municipal Code entitled "PublicSafety-Þolice Department and Fire Department"shall read as follows:
2.34.010 Public Safety Director:There is established in the city thepositionofPublicsatetyDirectorwhoshallberesponsibleto theCityManager.The Public Safety Director shall be responsible fortheeffectiveadministrationandmanagementofthePoliceandFireDepartments.
2.34.020 Police Department Established:There is established in the city aPoliceDepartmentwhichistoprovidepoliceservices;have allthepowers,and perform such other duties as provided for by law.
2.34.030 Appointment and Duties of Police Chief:
A.The City Manager shall appoint the Police Chief as providedbylawaftercertificationbythecity's Civil ServiceCommission.I B.The Police Chief shall be responsible to the Public SafetyDirector.
2.34.040 Fire Department Established:There is established in the city aFireDepartmentWhichistoprovidefireservices;have all thepowers,and perform such other duties as provided for by law.
2.34.050 Appointment and Duties of Fire Chief:
A.The City Manager shall appoint the Fire Chief as provided bylawaftercertificationbythecity's Civil ServiceCommission.
B.The Fire Chief shall be responsible to the Public SafetyDirector.
Section 4.This ordinance shall take effect and be in force five (5)daysafteritspassageandpublicationasprovidedbylaw.
