2021 10 06 MinutesMOSES LAKE LODGING TAX ADVISORY COMMITTEE October 6, 2021 A meeting of the Moses Lake Lodging Tax Advisory Committee was called to order at 4:00 p.m. by Chair Eck in the Council Chambers of the Civic Center, 401 S. Balsam, Moses Lake, Washington and was broadcast remotely via Zoom. ROLL CALL Present: Chair: Council Member David Eck; Committee Members: Tim Molitor, Richard Hanover, Barry Lawson. Staff: City Manager Allison Williams, and City Clerk Debbie Burke. OLD BUSINESS 1. 2020 Available Revenue Funds City Manager Allison Williams provided the amount available for distribution which was also included in the agenda packet. Staff discussed availability of ARPA funding to backfill those that are not included in the original $309,900. Staff also confirmed that the 15% reserve was not included in the amount of funding available to grant. There was discussion on what those funds are available for. 2. Summary of 2020 Applications and Optional Scoring Worksheets Staff prepared a summary of the current applications as well as a criteria checklist. 3. Historical Fund Request 2019 & 2020 Spreadsheet Actual funding for the years 2019 and 2020 were included in the meeting packet for review as well as the 2019-2021 actual and estimated revenue and expenditures. 4. Smith Travel Report Staff provided an overview of the Smith Travel Report which shows how many rooms were reported being booked. 5. The following were not recommended for funding this year: Visit WA Marketing Central/Eastern Washington Event Tourism The following was recommended for ARPA Backfill Funding Moses Lake Spring Festival Moses Lake Freedom Fest - $50,000 After reviewing and discussing each application the Committee is presenting to Council a total funding amount of $309,900 for 2022 disbursement. They are suggesting that the ARPA funds cover the Spring Festival’s Freedom Fest request in the amount of $50,000.
