A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF MOSES
LAKE WASHINGTON, AUTHORIZING THE
ADOPTION OF THE GRANT COUNTY
HAZARD MITGITATION PLAN
Recitals:
1.All of Grant County has exposure to natural hazards that increase the risk to life, property,
environment and the County’s economy.
2.Pro-active mitigation of known hazards before a disaster event can reduce or eliminate long-term
risk to life and property.
3.The Disaster Mitigation Act of 2000 (Public Law 106-390) established new requirements for pre-
and post-disaster hazard mitigation programs.
4.A coalition of Grant County stakeholders with like planning objectives has been formed to pool
resources and create consistent mitigation strategies to be implemented within each partner
identified capabilities, within the Grant County Planning Area.
5.The coalition has completed a planning process that engages the public, assesses the risk and
vulnerability to the impacts of natural hazards, develops a mitigation strategy consistent with a set
of uniform goals and objectives, and creates a plan for implementing, evaluating and revising this
strategy.
Resolved:
1. Resolution 3429 and all prior resolutions adopting a Grant County Hazard Mitigation
Plan (GCHMP) are hereby repealed.
2. New Volume I and the introduction, the City of Moses Lak jurisdictional annex, and the
appendices of Volume II of the Grant County Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation
Plan (GCHMP) are adopted in their entirety.

3. The adopted and approved portions of the GCHMP to will be used to guide pre- and post-
disaster mitigation of the hazards identified.
4. The City of Moses Lake will coordinate the strategies identified in the GCHMP with
other planning programs and mechanisms under its jurisdictional authority.

5. The City of Moses Lake will continue its support of the Steering Committee and continue to
participate in the Planning Partnership as described by the GCHMP.
6. The City of Moses Lake will
help to promote and support the mitigation successes of all GCHMP Planning Partners.
