ORDINANCE NO. 2243
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 2.60 OF THE MOSES LAKE MUNICIPAL
CODE ENTITLED "COMPENSATION OF MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS"
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MOSES LAKE, WASHINGTON DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Chapter 2.60 of the Moses Lake Municipal Code entitled "Compensation for Mayor and City
Council Members' is re-titled "Stipends for Mayor and City Council Members".
Section 2. Chapter 2.60 of the Moses Lake Municipal Code entitled "Compensation of Mayor and City
Council Members" is amended as follows:
2.60.010 Mayor: The Mayor shall receive a stipend in the amount of seven hundred dollars ($700) per
month. The aforementioned stipend is provided in lieu of any stipend provided a City Councilman.
In addition, the Mayor shall receive thirty dollars ($30) for each scheduled meeting attended up
to a maximum of ten (10) meetings per month.
2.60.015 Deputy Mayor: The Deputy Mayor shall receive a stipend in the amount of four hundred dollars
($400) per month. The aforementioned stipend is provided in lieu of any stipend provided a City
Councilman. In addition, the Deputy Mayor shall receive thirty dollars ($30) for each scheduled
meeting attended up to a maximum of ten (10) meetings per month.
2.60.020 Councilmen: Each City Councilman, except the Mayor and Deputy Mayor, shall receive a stipend
of three hundred dollars ($300) per month. In addition, each City Councilman shall receive thirty
dollars ($30) for each scheduled meeting attended up to a maximum of ten (10) meetings per
month.
2.60.030 Stipend Review: The stipend paid to the Mayor, Deputy Mayor, and City Councilmen shall be
reviewed by the City Council and adjusted, if appropriate, in June of each odd numbered year.
Section 3. The City Council declares that an emergency exists and this ordinance is deemed a public
emergency ordinance necessary for the protection of public health, public safety, public property, or public
peace and shall take effect immediately as provided by law upon one reading if a majority plus one of the
whole membership of the City Council vote in favor of passage.
