IX.OTHER ITEMS FOR COUNCIL CONSIDERATION
SNOW REMOVAL
Tim Varney, Asst.Municipal Services Directorfor Operations, requested Council direction on where to pile
snow if it is necessary to start plowing the residential areas. He stated that 8 years ago was the last time
the city had to plow residential areas and the snow was plowed to the center, which created a number of
problems, including people drivingon the wrong side of the road, cars becoming high centered when trying
to cross the snow, and damage to cars from hitting the snow after it had frozen hard.Ellensburg,
Wenatchee, and Pasco all plow to the curb or the parking strip. This also creates problems such as
blocking driveways and plowing in cars.
Itwas the consensus of the Councilthat the city should plowto the outside ofthe street in residential areas.
