Rimple,Bob Wallenstien;absent:Dave Chandler and
Norm Staat.
The special meeting was called to order at 11:30 a.m.by Mayor Norman
Johnson.
Mayor Johnson explained that the special meeting was called because a
letter had been received from Ron Jones requesting that a short fire
works display at half-time of the homecoming game,November 8,1985,of
the Moses Lake High School be approved. The letter was received on
November 5,and permission had to be granted before the next regular
council meeting.
The letter explained that the display would be from the same McCosh Park
location used by the Lions Club for their July 4th event. The display
would include 30 shells and would last only 3 or 4 minutes.Mortars
would be fired over the lake exactly in the manner as the July fireworks
display.A display permit from the State Fire Marshal and certificate
of insurance would be obtained and delivered to City Hall before the
event.
Joseph K.Gavinski,City Manager, stated that any motion that the City
Council would consider would be contingent upon the insurance policy and
permit being received from the state being delivered to City Hall prior
to the event.
Councilman Rimple made a motion that Mr.Jones be given permission for
the fireworks display as requested contingent upon the insurance policy
and permit from the state being delivered to City Hall prior to the
event, seconded by Councilman Reese, and unanimously passed.
