CITY COUNCIL MEETING -SPECIAL SESSION December 5,1977
CITY HALL -COUNCIL ROOM 8 p.m.
Members present:Don Swanson, Bill Moe,Eric Skaug, and Bob Hill
Absent:Norm Johnson,Jim Barney,and Kent Jones
The meeting was called to order at 8 p.m.by Mayor Don Swanson.
This is a special meeting to discuss the budget.
The public hearing was opened.
Chet Waggener,City Manager,pointed out that at the last study session the Council
had approved the 8.5%increase in staff salaries.
Mr.Waggener mentioned that he had asked Stan Bech,City Planner,to look at the
Police building with the thought that perhaps it could be used to house the Community
Development Department.He stated that there is now $25,000 budgeted for the
demolition of this building and $80,000 for remodeling of City Hall. If it was
decided to move Community Development into the Police building,this $25,000 could
also be used for remodeling.He stated that these projects would be brought back
to Council before any action is taken.
Mr.Hill inquired about a janitorial service.Jerry Fay,Public Works Director,
stated that it was being looked into and they would have something for Council in
the early part of 1978. Mr.Waggener stated that if the city went to a janitorial
service there would have to be a re-allocation of some funds.
There were no comments from the audience.
Mr.Hill moved that the public hearing be closed,seconded by Mr. Moe,and passed
unanimously.
Mr.Hill asked about the insurance proposals.Mr.Waggener stated that they are
due on December 9 and he would distribute them to Council before the meeting of
December 13.He stated that he would also recommend that Mr.Wickman be present
at the meeting of December 20 to go over the proposals with the Council.
Mr. Moe moved that the meeting be adjourned,seconded by Mr. Skaug, and passed
unanimously.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:10 p.m.
