1969 11 17Li SPECIAL ORGANIZATIONAL COUNCIL MEETING November 17,1969 Council Chambers 7:30 P.M. 1416 Members present:Gordon Ebbert,Monte Holm,Otto Skaug,JackEng, John Jones,Dr.Lindell and Michael Boyle.' Mayor John Jones called the meeting to order for the purpose of seating the /^^7 newely elected Councilmen.He called on Charles Davenport,City Clerk, for a report of the election.He reported that the following had been certified as new councilmen by Jack Peddycord,Grant County Auditor,as the results of the election held November 4,1969: Norman W.Johnson,Ernest V.Lindell,Robert E. (Bob)Hill and W.B.(Bill)Moe. Mayor Jones presented each with their respective Certificate of Office. After the presentation,,Mayor Jones stated he will proceed with the meeting as Mayor Pro Tern until the new Council votes for a Mayor,and called for nominations for the office of Mayor of Moses Lake. Gordon Ebbert nominated Otto Skaug,and for his personal benefit,requested a unanimous vote.Second by Michael Boyle.Bob Hill moved the nominations be closed.Second by Norman Johnson.Motion passed.Otto Skaug was unanimously elected as the new Mayor of Moses Lake. Mayor Skaug addressed the outgoing and the new councilmen expressing his gratitude for the confidence reflected,and hoped the next term would be as harmonious as the past years with John Jones as Mayor and the previous years with Past Mayor Harold Stadshaug,who was present in the audience. On behalf of the remaining Council and the City Manager,Mayor Skaug presented the retiring Mayor and Councilman Holm and Councilman Eng each with a Barometer mounted on a walnut base with their name and years served on the Council,inscribed on a brass plate. Before closing the meeting,Mrs.Covington,representing the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints,asked to present invitations to the Council. She presented personal invitations to each Councilman to the Centennial Ball to be held on November 28,1969,sponsored by the youth group of the Mutual Improvement Association of the Church and hoped they would also participate in the Grand Prominade held during intermission at the Ball.
