COUNCIL MEETING
REGULAR SESSION 8:00 P.M. CITY HALL
The Council met in regular session, the meeting was called to order by Mayor Dietzen.
Councilmen present were: Gordon Ebbert, Otto Skaug, Harold Stadshaug,William
Hilderbrand,Alex Law, Fred Krueger and John Dietzen.
Minutes of the last meeting of Dec 11th, were approved by the council.
BILLS were audited by the council.Motion by Hilderbrand seconded by Stadshaug,
bills be paid and warrants drawn.Motion carried.

ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO.156 IMPRISONMENT IN LIEU OF FINE

Read for the first time by title only.Letter from Police Judge,James Strong
recommending an amendment to Ordinance No.156 from $3.00 per day credit on
a fine for each day served in jail,to $10.00 per day read.Motion by Krueger
to amend Ordinance to read $6.00 per day,instead of $10.00 per day and approve
first reading,seconded by Stadshaug.1 Motion carried with Law voting N0.
ZONING-OFF STREET PARKING
Letter from James Wright,Building &Planning Director,regarding off-street /
parking,and recommending that a joint meeting between the ^ity Council and
the Planning Commission be held to study the many problems in controlling
off-street parking.Joint meeting set for Jan 3,1963 with the Planning
Commission to discuss further.
UNITED STATES FISH &WILD LIFE REQUEST
Letter from James Wright,Building &Planning Director,regarding Bureau //JJ]fa/)
of Sport Fisheries & Wildlife to Construct a metal building on their property.
Planning Commission voted at their regular meeting ^ec 20th,to recommend to
the Council,platting not be required and steel building be permitted if it
fully complies with the City Building Code,and a screen or planting be erected
along the easterly boundary of the property.Motion by Law seconded by Krueger
recommendation of the Planning Commission be approved.Motion carried.
PLANNING COMMISSION RE-APPOINTMENTS /0&J?
Letter from Mayor John F.Dietzen, requesting confirmation of the re-appointments
of David H.Kehl and Glenn Farris to the Planning Commission term to expire
Dec 31,1968 read.Motion by Stadshaug seconded by Ebbert,confirmation of
appointments be approved.Motion carried.

MONTLAKE EAST NO.5 ACCEPTANCE OF UTILITIES
\9 Letter from J.Garth Anderson,Public Works Director,recommending that the
City accept the utilities along Wallace Street and Turnigan Place,within the
Plat of Montlake East N0.5 and bond guaranteeing the improvements be released.
Motion by Law accept the recommendation of J.Garth Anderson,for utilities
on M0ntlake East No.5,seconded by Ebbert.Motion carried.
LIBRARY-SELECTION ARCHITECT
5/Mayor Dietzen stated,council and Library Board,had studied architect proposals,
and have come to a decision on hiring of architect.Motion by Hilderbrand
seconded by Law,employee Harvey Vernier Architect,to make preliminary draw
ings and cost estimates on library building.Motion carried.
REQUEST TO CALL FOR BIDS ON GASOLINE
o\Letter from City Manager,Chester Waggener,requesting authorization to call
for bids for gasoline read.Motion by Krueger seconded by Ebbert,request
of City Manager,to call for gasoline bids be granted.Motion carried.
