1964 04 06881 COUNCIL MEETING SPECIAL SESSION -8:00 P.M.-CITY HALL April 6,1964 The City Council met in special session with the meeting called to order by Mayor Dietzene Other Councilmen present were:Gordon Ebbert, Otto Skaug,Harold Stadshaug,William Hilderbrand,Forrest Hardin and i incoming Councilmen,K.Ho McDonald,Jack Eng and Monte HolmD Fred Krueger was absento Mayor Dietzen thanked the Council for the cooperation which they have given to him during his two years as Mayor.He also thanked Mr. Waggenor for the tremendous help which he had given,as well as the department heads,and Mr.Calbom,City Attorney.He recognized the Commissions as the unsung heros; the Planning Commission members who devote a lot of time and do not receive a lot of recognition for it, the Park and Recreation Board,the Civil Service Commission and the Board of Adjustment. Mayor Dietzen expressed the hope that the new Council would support the very fine staff,which he feels to be the best in Eastern Wash. He mentioned various projects to be completed;the economic survey, 6 year street plan,city clean up,development of Cascade Park and the new Public Safety Building,and asked the Council to be thinking about the acquisition of lake frontage property for future boat launching areas . The Oath of Office was given to the new Councilmen,Jack Eng,K.H. McDonald,Monte Holm and Forrest Hardin by the City Clerk, The City Clerk opened the meeting for nominations for Mayor.,Mr.i Hardin nominated Mr.Harold Stadshaug,. Motion by McDonald,seconded by Eng,that the nominations for .Mayor -— be closedo Motion carried. Motion by McDonald,seconded by Skaug,that a unanimous ballot be cast for Mr.Harold Stadshaug for Mayor.,Motion carried. Mayor Stadshaug took over the meeting,commending the City adminis tration and the department heads.He expressed the desire to continue the fine spirit of cooperation that exists between the Chamber of Commerce,the School District and the City,for the good of the town.
