1965 10 04COUNCIL MEETING SPECIAL SESSION -8:00 P.M.-City Hall 1032 October 4,1965 The City Council met in special session with the meeting called to order by Mayor Stadshaug.Councilmen present were:Gordon Ebbert,Otto Skaug,Forrest Hardin,Monte Holm, and John Jones.Councilman Eng was absent. 1966 BUDGET HEARING The Mayor opened the public hearing. /#/o Ordinance No. 536,adopting the budget for the City of Moses Lake,Washington,for the year of 1966 and levying taxes,for municipal purposes,according to the assessed valuation as determined in the year 1965,was read by title'only. There was no one present in the audience with questions concerning the budget.Mr.Waggener also indicated that even though copies of the budget were available to the public there had been no requests for them. Mr.Waggener,City Manager,explained that there had been a few changes in the budget since the last study session.After discussion with John Calbom,City Attorney, and Ray Greenwood,Criminal Attorney,it was decided that a salary of $1,800 per year was more realistic. This would represent a $600 reduction in the Legal and Judicial budget. The salary for the Civil Service Examiner was also discussed with Mr.Greenwood and it was decided that $600 would be more realistic.This would be a $300 reduction in the Civil Service budget for 1966. Mr.Waggener reminded the Council about their decision from the last Council meeting,when they accepted Public Works Director Pat Nevins recommendation to extend the seal-coating project to 1966.This would increase the carry-over balance in the Street Department. Mr.Hardin asked how much of the budget was inter departmental transfers.Mr.Waggener indicated inter departmental transfers would be $143,637. Mr.Eng's presence was noted. Motion by Hardin,second by Holm,that the public hearing be closed.Motion carried. Mr.Hardin moved adoption of the 1966 Budget as presented in the amount of $2,053,759.Second by Monte Holm.Motion carried. Meeting adjourned ATTEST: Sandra K.Deese City Clerk
