A letter was read from the Public Works Director,Pat Nevins, stating that the Chief Building Inspector,John Taylor, had met with local representatives of the plumbing profession and as a result felt our Plumbing Code should be up-dated.Mr.Taylor was present at the meeting and explained that our present Plumbing Code is the 1961 Edition, and in order to keep up with the plumbing industry it is imperative that we adopt the current 1967 Edition. The Plumbing Code is up-dated every three years. The 1964 Code was not adopted by the City of Moses Lake.He noted the fee schedule is more in line with the fees charged by cities in the surrounding area according to a survey made about one and one-half years ago by the former Building Inspector. The fee schedule is intended to cover the inspection costs. The Plumbing Code does not prohibit anyone from installing their own plumbing and in which instance the Inspector does help out by pointing out the requirements of the Code. The average plumbing permit for a dwelling would amount to Eight or Nine Dollars. Motion by Otto Skaug to adopt the first reading of this Ordinance.
