County Commissioner Geo Sparks advised the Council that the StateHighwayDeptadvisedagainstbuildingadjacenttotheproposednewrouteeastoftheCity,unti the route was definetly established.
The recemmendation of the Planning Comncil to zone all newareasannexedduringthelastsixmonthsasR-2 was accepted by motionofCouncimanStarr2ndbyGillett,motion carried with an amendment.toinclude areas in the process of annexation pending acceptanceofplatbyStateAuditor.Recommended for 90 days
A delegation from the Peninsula Club attended the meeting.TheprojectedroadandRRcrossingwasunderdiscussion,Mr.SalgeradvisedtheCouncilthatwheretheroadwouldgohadbeenre§erved
as a park site by the club.Mayor McCosh advised them that inasmuchtheproposedroutewasabouttheonlyfeasiblerouteacrosstheRRhesuggestedthattheClubdiscussthematteroftheDarkfurther.
Mr.Salyer also inquired about building permigs ,if thëy could behadfromtheCity.Mayor McCosh advised him that pendingcertificationofnamesonthepetitionbytheStateAuditor itwouldbeadvisabletogetbuildingpermitsfromtheCounty,
Te matter of eleaning up and leveling Lak.eshore Drive in frontoftheAmickdwellingswasbroughtup,the work not having been donepropwrlybethecontractor,StheetaSûpfañébeSparks agreed to putthestreetinshape.Councilman Starr moved ,2nd by Shoddock,to have an ordinance drawn to require contractors furnish acashibondinfuturetogauranteepropercleanupofstreetshereafter,carried.
A motion by Starr 2nd by Shaddock to request Jake Lybbert tocompleteworkonCascade&Rose was made and carried ,and tobill.Lybbert with the expense/
Ronald Kissler presented a resogation from the Kiwanis ClubrequestingtheCityCouncil's assistance in caring for needy
Dersons during the winter months.It was suggested that thewelfarebureauarovideaversononeeortwiceaweektotake care -of neople who had no transportation .and space was neededoto=pefmitsuchpersontoreceiveclaimsinMosesLake.Mayor McCoshsuggestedaninvestigationbemadeandalsosuggestedamotion toaccepttheresolutionandfollwwthroughwithappropriateaction.Motion By Starr 2nd by Thoren carried.The Clerk was instructed towriteMrsEansen,thhe welfare manager in Ephrata to contact MàyorMcCosh.
An Option &agreement from the Bureau of Reclaimation was presented
by the Mayor,to purchase a strip"of land wide enough for anirrigation
ditch bordering the airnort on the East and South,for 3¶.00 peracreMotionbyTaylor2ndbyStarrtoacceptandauthorisetheMayor
and Clerk to sign ,carried.
Ordinance #136 on servicesstatioñanwaa read the first time,rulessuspendedforthe2ndreadingbymotionofStarr2ndbyShadack,
and moved by Shad¯ock 2nd by Starr to read for the Rd time by titleonlyandorderpublidhed,carried
Ordinance #137,re peddlers read the first time.
Police Chief Bjork suggested that a stop and go light be placed at ~
the intersection of Broadway and Alder ,and also at 3d &Germainia,
mbtion by Shaddoeg 2nd by Thoren to authorise installation carried.
Councilman Thoren resigned as building inspector,resignation
accepted.
