The council met in regular session,the meeting was called to order by Bayor Boyle,c.ouncilmen present were John Dietzen,Fred Krueger,William Hilderbrand,Alex Law,Frank Holmes,Mekle West and city attorney John Calbom.
The minutes of the previous meeting of July 22nd were read,stand approved as read.The minutes of the recessed meeting of July 29th,were read,stand approved as read.Bills were read.The motion by Law seconded by Krueger bills be paid and warrantsdrawn.Motion carried.

PROGRESS REERT ON THE ALDER STREET BRIDGE:was given by the City Engineer.
ËPORT ON B.E.K.SASPROJECT:was given by the city engineer,stated that a check listhadbeensubmittedoftheunsatisfactoryworkandthatB.E•H.had closed there officeandcalledofftheremenandlookedasiftheywerenotgoingtocompletecleanupwork,if not the city would take steps to complet it and deduct cost from the finalpaymenttoB.E.H.

VISTA FIRE SUBSTATION:Mr.Rector reported that Vista Fire Substation has been set up
at 306 Loop Drive,One engine and two men on duty all the time.
CKKEBEROF COMMERCEBLDG SITE:New Proposal be presented to the council at later date.
REPORT on C-LA Zone,building permit by city attorney,action of city council to make
zone change is final acceptance,accept.attorney's report and put letter in file.
HI-WAYCOMMISSIONHEARING:Mayor informed the council there will be a meeting in
Olympia August 20th,1956 at 2:30 P.M.pertaining to Broadway,and would like authoriza-
tion to send three councilmen.The motion by Dietzen seconded by Holmes,authorization
be given to have 3 aouncilmen at the hearing on Aug 20th,Motion carried.
PROPOSAL TO THE STATE ON DRAINAGEREPRIRS ON BROADWAY:bySigman's food Store.State
will pay $¼,086.60,councilmen feel that the state should present an agreement to the
city.The motion by Hilderbrand seconded by Dietsen the matter be referred to State
Hi-way commission to draw up agreement.Motion carried.
INSURANCE:Mr.Uhland of Burress &Oh1and realty appeared before the council in re-
gards to over all insurance for the city.The motion by Law seconded byWest to accept
Mr.Ohland's report and authorise payment of billa.Motion carried.
PELICAN BDRNDRAIRAGE:Mr.Mackin appeared before the council in regards to drainage
problem on Pelican Horn:The motion byWest seconded by Law the matter be referred to
a committee and city engineer to survey and prepare a report to be given at the next
council meeting.Motion carried.
inSST VIER ADDITION UTILITIES:Mr.Mober appeared.before the council in regards to the
utilities and what city plans to do.Councilman Holmes feels people should take *ke
care of this matter themselves and sue the bonding company.The motion by Law seconded
by Krueger to refer matter to the city attorney to give us an opinion at next council
meeting.Motion carried.
SfIMMING POOL:tabled until next council meeting.
EMPLOYEESGROUPINSURANCE:being evualated and report back.
HOUSING:tabled until nact council meeting.Mr.Harvey Fittes will meet Tue Aug 26th,
at noon for meeting.
PRELIMINARYBUDGET:to be submitted on Sept 2nd,1998.
CITY FURNACES:Report on bids received to convert 3 eity burners to natural gas by
Mr.Snook.Burners to convert at city Hall,Police Dept,andWater Dept Service Bldg

The motion by Law seconded byWest defer until next meeting and have city attorney
check on matter and look up previous minutes pertaining to it.Motion carried.
CITY AIRPORT LANDACQUISITION:explained by Mr.Rector.The motion by Law seconded
by Hilderbrand that the administration be authorized to proceed with acquisition of
property adjacent to the present airport and development farm.(W of S.E.¼of
Sec.13)Motion carried with Holmes voting No.
KUTEDRIZATIONFOR FAIR BOOTH:The motion byWest seconded by Holmes authorization for
expenditure of $150.00 for city Fair Booth at Grant county Fair.Motion carried.
