2711_00001RESOLUTION NO.2711 A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING GRANT COUNTY PROPOSITION NO.1 WHICHISPRESENTEDTOTHEVOTERSATTHEGENERALELECTIONTOBEHELDONNOVEMBER8,2005 PROPOSING A SALES/USE TAX FOR COSTSASSOCIATEDWITHOPERATINGANDIMPROVINGTHEENHANCED911EMERGENCYCOMMUNICATIONSSYSTEMSANDOPERATIONSWITHINGRANTCOUNTY RECITALS:O 1.State legislation allows counties to impose a 1/10 of 1%sales and use tax for emergencycommunitcationssystemandfacilities. 2.There exists in Grant County a Multi-Agency Communications Center (MACC)which came into beingandoperatesbywayofaninter-local cooperation agreement between the various agencies in GrantCounty.These agencies provide law enforcement,fire protection,paramedic and emergencymedicalfirstresponderservicestothecitizensofMosesLakeandGrantCounty. 3.A crucial need exists to fund the critical infrastructure and operations of the emergencycommunicationssysteminGrantCountyinordertocontinuetoprovidevitalpublicsafetyservicestothecitizensofMosesLakeandGrantCounty. 4.The MACC Board requested that the enhanced 911 sales tax option be placed on the November 8,2005 general election ballot. 5.This resolution has come before the Moses Lake City Council at its meeting of October 25,2005,with notice thereofgiven in the manner required by RCW 42.17.130(1)(a). 6.At said meeting members of the City Council and members of the public in attendance were afforded an approximately equal opportunity for the expression of opposing views. RESOLVED: 1.The City Council of the City of Moses Lake supports the passage of Grant County Proposition #1which,if it passes,will raise monies to fund costs associated with financing,designing,acquiring, O constructing,equipping,operating,maintaining,remodeling,repairing,re-equipping,and/or otherwiseimprovingtheenhanced911emergencycommunicationssystemsandfacilitiesinGrantCounty.
