2859•RESOLUTION NO. 2859 A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A NASCAR RACE TRACK IN GRANT COUNTY, WASHINGTON RECITALS: 1.International Speedway, Corp. (ISC) has abandoned plans to build a $368 million NASCAR race track in Kitsap County, Washington. 2.The International Speedway, Corp. has indicated it will look for other track sites in the State f Washington and may approach the state legislature in the future with a proposal to locate a NASCAR race track in another Washington location. 3.Construction of a NASCAR race track as proposed by International Speedway, Corp. call ed for about $180 million in tax payer backed financing which would be supplemented with a proxi- mately $186 million from the International Speedway, Corp. International Speedway Corp., according to the original proposal, would pay for any cost overruns, would operate and maintain the track, and pay for any upgrades that may be necessary over time. 4.A NASCAR race track, according to International Speedway, Corp. officials, would draw tens of thousands of visitors from out of state, would generate more than enough a ditional tax revenue to cover the state's portion of the project, would generate hundreds of jobs, and provide a substantial boost to the state's economy. 4111 5.
