A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PAYMENT OF REWARDS TO PERSONS
FURNISHING INFORMATION LEADING TO THE ARREST AND CONVICTION OF
ANYONE VANDALIZING OR OTHERWISE DAMAGING CITY PROPERTY
RECITALS:
1. Acts of vandalism, malicious mischief, or other criminal activity committed against City of Moses
Lake property is costly for the governmentand the citizenswho supportthe governmentthrough
,their payment of taxes. Itis also costly inthe sense that monies that could support programsre-
^-^quired or requested by the city citizens must be spent to repair acts of vandalism,malicious mis
chief, or other criminal acts which means the money is not availablefor programs citizens requireor
request.
2. RCW 10.58.030allows a city's legislative body to authorize and pay a suitable rewardto any person
or persons who furnish information leading to the arrestand convictionof any person of any offense
againstthe city's propertywhether or not the offense is a felony,gross misdemeanor, or misde
meanor.
3. The Moses Lake City Council finds that it is inthe city's best interest, in order to attempt to reduce
acts of vandalism,malicious mischief,and other criminal acts against the city's property and,
therefore, to reduce the amount of public (city)money spent on repairing those acts of vandalism,
malicious mischief,or other criminal acts against city property to offer rewards for information
leading to the arrest and conviction of persons committing the offenses.
RESOLVED:
1.The City of Moses Lake shall pay to any person or persons who shall furnish information leading to
the arrest and conviction of any person of any offense against the city's property as follows:
A.Arrest and conviction for violation of RCW 9A.48.070 -$150
B.Arrest and conviction for violation of RCW 9A.48.080 -$100
C.Arrest and conviction for violation of RCW 9A.48.090 -$50
D.Other criminal acts - reward will be established by the Moses Lake City Council.
Reward amounts may vary from the above schedule as special circumstances may require with
specific authorization from the Moses Lake city Council.
2. Upon arrest and conviction of any person forthe commission of any offense against the city's
property,the city staff is authorized to seek restitution for the damages the city has suffered as
authorized by law.
