A RESOLUTION STATING A POSITION ON STATE OF WASHINGTON LEGISLA
TIVE RESTRICTING
RECITALS:
1. Consistent with legal requirements,the State of Washington's legislative districtswill need to be
altered to reflect population changes whichhave occurred between 1980 and 1990 and which
became apparent withthe population data gathered inthe 1990 Federal Decennial Census.
^J 2.The Washington State Redlstricting Commission has been formed and has been reviewing plans to
redistrict the legislative districts inthe state to reflect these population changes.
3.Current redlstricting plans submittedby the Commission members will changethe boundaries ofthe
present Stateof Washington Legislative District #13. The City of Moses Lake is situated In Legisla
tive District #13.
RESOLVED:
1.In any redlstricting plan the Moses LakeCity Council advocates and supports a plan which incorpo
ratesthe Cityof Moses Lakeina district which also includesthe areas surrounding and adjacentto
the city.
2. In any redlstricting planthe Moses Lake City Council does not advocate or support a redlstricting
planwhich places the City of Moses Lake in a district different than the areas surrounding and
adjacent to the City of Moses Lake.
3. The Washington State Redlstricting Committee should consider proposing a redistricting plan which
gives consideration to the position of the City of Moses Lake as expressed through the City Council.
