RESOLUTION NO.1678
A RESOLUTION OF MOSES LAKE,WASHINGTON ADOPTING A NATURAL RE
SOURCE LANDS AND CRITICAL AREAS PLAN TO IMPLEMENT THE GROWTH
MANAGEMENT ACT OF 1990
RECITALS:
1. The 1990 Washington State Legislature found that uncoordinated and unplanned growth,together
with a lack of common goals expressing the public's interest in the conservation and the wise use of
our lands,pose a threat to our environment,sustainable economic development,and the health,
safety, and high quality of life enjoyed by residents of this state.
2.The 1990 Washington State Legislature passed the Growth Management (ESHB 2929)which ad
dressed their concerns and requires cooperation and coordination among citizens,communities,
local governments,and the private sector in comprehensive land use planning.
3. The Growth Management Act (ESHB 2929) requiresthe City of Moses Lake to amend its existing
comprehensive plan for compliance and consistency with new guidelines prescribed by the act.
4. The Act has assigned a September 1,1992 deadline forthe adoption of regulationsforthe conser
vation and protection of Resource Lands and Critical Areas.
5. A draft plan has been prepared forthe classification and designation of Resource Lands and Critical
Areas based upon general characteristics defined by performance standards.
6. Ordinances will be adopted to conserve and protect Resource Lands and Critical Areas as classified
and designated by the draft plan.
RESOLVED:
1.The City Council of the City of Moses Lake,Washington,agrees to the Draft Planforthe Classifica
tion and Designation of Resource Landsand Critical Areas on file inthe Municipal Services Depart
ment.
