A RESOLUTION EXTENDING RECOGNITION,APPRECIATION,AND A
COMMENDATION TO COACH WAYNE GILMAN AND THE MOSES LAKE HIGH
SCHOOL BASKETBALL CHIEFS
WHEREAS,Coach Wayne Gilman guided his Basketball Chiefs,with a late season surge,
into the Big Nine play-offs,and
WHEREAS,the upset-minded Chiefs knocked off Kennewick,Walla Walla,and the
state's number 6 ranked team,Davis,earning a berth in the Region IV play-offs,
and
WHEREAS,continuing to defy the experts,the Chiefs whipped the Mead Panthers
before finally succumbing to the state's number 3 ranked team,Shadle Park,and
WHEREAS,to the delight of the entire community,Coach Gilman was named the Big
Nine Basketball Coach-of-the-Year and Senior Lanny Ledeboer was named to the Big
Nine first team All-Star squad and Senior David Volke received league All-Star
honorable mention, and
WHEREAS,the Basketball Chiefs brought to Moses Lake High School and the City of
Moses Lake pride,excitement,and enthusiasm,as well as state-wide recognition,
distinction,and admiration;
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Moses Lake,
Washington as follows:
Section 1.The City of Moses Lake extends sincere commendations and congratulations
to Wayne Gilman,Assistant Coach Bill Anderson;Juniors Dan Hope,Adrian Scott,and
Kevin Tatum;and Seniors Pat Earl,Joel Fuller,Howard Jensen,Lanny Ledeboer,
Steve Miers,Tray Parkinson,Dan Rinehart,and David Volke for their achievements
through the 1980-81 season and tournament trail.
Section 2.The Moses Lake City Council,on behalf of its citizens,appreciates the
recognition brought to us by the Basketball Chiefs and is proud of their accomplish
ments and distinction.
PASSED by the City Council of the City of Moses Lake,Washington,and APPROVED by
its Mayor this 24th day of March,1981.
