A RESOLUTION OP THE CITY OF MOSES LAKE,IN
ACCORDANCE WITH ORDINANCE 629,REGULATING
THE SPEED OF VEHICLES AND REGULATING PARK
ING ON STATE ROUTE 171 (BROADWAY AVENUE)
WHEREAS, State Route 171 is also a city street designated as Broad
way Avenue within the corporate limits of the city of Moses Lake, and
WHEREAS, RCW 47.24020 (11)provides that the City shall regulate
and enforce all traffic and parking restriction on such,street, but
all regulation adopted by the City relating to the speeds,parking
and traffic control devices on such streets not identical to State
• Law relating thereto shall be subject to the approval of the State
Highway Commission before becoming effective, and
WHEREAS, pursuant to studies by the Traffic Engineer of the City of
Moses Lake and its officials,and the Department of Highways,it is
deemed to be in the best interest of the city of Moses Lake and the
citizens thereof, that the speed limits on certain sections of State
Route 171 (Broadway Avenue) in the City of Moses Lake be adjusted
and parking regulations be adopted.
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL.OF MOSES LAKE
AS FOLLOWS:
Section I;it shall be unlawful for the operator of any
vehicle to operate same inside the incorporated limits of the City
of Moses Lake on State Route 171 (Broadway Avenue)at a speed in
excess of the following:
40 miles per hour from Mile post 0.00 at junction
State Route 90 to Mile Post 2.00 at a point 400
feet Southerly of Third Avenue.
25 miles per hour from Mile Post 2.00 at a point
400 feet Southerly of Third Avenue to Mile Post
3.34 at Block Street.
35 miles per hour from Mile Post 3.34 at Block
Street to Mile Post 3.82 at Junction State Route

20 miles per hour when flagged from Mile Post 0.74
to Mile post 0.86 at the school cross walk at Mile
Post 0.80 at Orchard Avenue.
20 miles per hour when flagged from Mile Post
1.64 to Mile post 1.76 at the school cross walk
at Mile post 1.70 at western Avenue.
Section II:it shall be unlawful for any person to stand
or park a truck at any time on any day except in designated loading
zones on the following described sections of State Route 171 (Broad
way Avenue).
From Mile post 2.06 at Third Avenue to Mile Post
2.25 at Holly Street on the south side only.
From Mile Post 2.25 at Holly Street to Mile Post
2.32 at Gumw'ood Street on the North side only.

Section V: It shall be unlawful for any person to stand
or park a vehicle at any time on any day between the hours of 9:00
A.M. and 6:00 P.M.,except on Sundays and Holidays without payment
of established parking meter fees on the following described sec
tions of State Route 171 (Broadway Avenue).
From Mile Post 2.60 at Cedar Street to Mile
Post 2.96 at Balsam Street on the South side.
From Mile Post 2.60 at Cedar Street to Mile
Post 2.89 at Alder Street on the North side.
Section VI:Any person violating any provision of this
Resolution shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and on conviction there
of shall be fined in any sum not exceeding Five Hundred Dollars
($500.00).
Section VII:This Resolution shall be in full force and
effect upon its passage and approval by the Washington State High
way Commission in the manner provided by law."•
Section VIII:In the event any provisions of this chapter
may be declared unconstitutional or invalid, such shall be considered
severable and the remainder of this Chapter shall not be affected
thereby and shall remain in full force and effect.
PASSED by the City Council and APPROVED by its Mayor this
day of December 1971 .
