A RESOLUTION AMENDING RESOLUTION NO.516,ESTABLISHING
POSITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT,VACATION LEAVE,SICK LEAVE,
OVERTIME,COMPENSATORY TIME AND OTHER CONDITIONS OF
EMPLOYMENT WITHIN THE CITY OF MOSES LAKE,BY AMENDING
SECTION 18,DEATH BENEFITS,AND SECTION 27,REGULATION OF
OUTSIDE EMPLOYMENT
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MOSES LAKE AS FOLLOWS:
?P SECTION 1.Section 18 of Resolution No.516 is hereby amended to read as
follows:
•ii «^T Section 18.Funeral Leave^The City Manager will upon request of the employee,grant leave
with pay,up to,but not to exceed five days for employees working
eight (8)hour shifts and up to,but not to exceed (3)shifts for
employees working twenty-four (24)hour shifts for the following
reasons:death of spouse,father,mother,foster parent,brother,
sister,child,foster child,grandparents or grandchildren of
employee or relatives of the spouse of the employee in the same
categories of relationship.The City Manager,in granting such
leave,shall consider the closeness of the relationship,travel
distance and other pertinent factors.
SECTION 2.Section 27 of Resolution No.516 is hereby amended to read as
follows:
Section 27.Regulation of outside employment.
As a general rule the City does not favor its employees holding
off-duty employment and working for the city at the same time.
No employee shall hold a job with an outside employer or be
self-employed without first having secured written approval from
his Department Head and from the City Manager.If outside work
contributes to reduce effectiveness on the job,an employee will
be given the alternative of terminating this work or his city's
employment.No sick leave with pay or medical expenses will be
allowed for injuries incurred because of off-duty employment.No
approval for outside employment shall be granted unless injury
or illness related to the employment are covered by the Workmans
Compensation Act of the State of Washington or other comparable
insurance.A certificate verifying insurance coverage shall be
filed with the application for off-duty employment.
