583RESOLUTION NO.583 A RESOLUTION GIVING ASSURANCE TO THE FEDERAL INSURANCE ADMINISTRATOR THAT THE CITY WILL COMPLY WITH THE ELIGIBILITY PROVISIONS OF THE NATIONAL FLOOD INSURANCE PROGRAM WHEREAS,certain areas of Moses Lake are subject to periodic flooding,causing damage to properties within these areas;and WHEREAS,relief is available in the form of flood insurance as authorized by the National Flood Insurance Act of 1968,as amended,and; WHEREAS, it is the intent of the City of Moses Lake to recognize and evaluate flood hazards in all official actions relating to land use in the flood plain and other lands subject to flooding,and; WHEREAS,the City of Moses Lake must receive eligibility from the Federal Insurance Administration before any residents of the City can participate in the flood insurance program. NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Moses Lake,Washington: 1.That the City of Moses Lake will assist the Federal Flood Insurance Administrator to delineate the special flood hazards within the City and provide the Federal Flood •Insurance Administrator with information requested regarding present uses within the flood plain. 2.That the City of Moses Lake will cooperate with the Federal Government,State, Local Governments,and private firms on studies and programs relating the flood prone areas of the City. 3.That the City Manager designate City officials with the responsibility and provide the means to receive and maintain City eligibility in the Federal Flood Insurance Program. PASSED by the City Council of the City of Moses Lake and APPROVED by its Mayor on thisdayofOctober,1972.
