764RESOLUTION NO.764 A RESOLUTION AMENDING PERSONNEL RESOLUTION NO.704 BY MODIFYING THE SCHEDULE OF HOLIDAYS. WHEREAS,Chapter 24,Laws of 1975-76 2nd Ex.Session mandates certain holidays for employees of the State and its political subdivisions, NOW THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Moses Lake as follows: Section 20 -Holidays:is hereby amended as follows: The following days shall be considered as holidays for all non-union employees.Union employees will be governed by their current Union contracts. Holiday Date to be Observed New Year's Day January 1 Lincoln's Birthday February 12 Washington's Birthday Third Monday in February Memorial Day Last Monday in May Independence Day July 4 Labor Day First Monday in September Veterans'Day November 11 Thanksgiving Day Fourth Thursday in November The day after Thanksgiving Fourth Friday in November Christmas December 25 One Floating Holiday At Employee's choice Employees working five (5)eight (8)hour shifts out of a seven (7)day period shall observe the following day when one of the listed holidays occurs on the second day of the employee's two consecutive scheduled days off.If one of the listed holidays occurs on the first day of the employee's two consecutive scheduled days off,no other day will be observed. Employees whose regular work schedule requires them to work on any of the listed holi days shall receive additional wages at the regular straight time rate of pay.Temporary, seasonal, and retainer employees shall not be entitled to holiday pay. The floating holiday each calendar year will be granted in accordance with the follow ing conditions: 1. The employee has been or is scheduled to be continuously employed by the City for more than six months, and 2.The employee has given not less than 14 calendar days'written notice to the sup ervisor, provided, however, the employee and the supervisor may agree upon an earlier date, and 3. The number of employees selecting a particular day off does not prevent a depart ment from providing continued public service. 4. The personal holiday must be taken during the calendar year or entitlement to the day will lapse, except when an employee has requested a personal holiday and the request has been denied. This resolution shall be effective immediately upon its adoption by the Moses Lake City Council. PASSED by the City Council and APPROVED by its Mayor^his 12th day of July,1976.
