WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Moses Lake wish
to acquire Federal Housing Projects WASH-45206 and WASH-V 45402
to continue the project for temporary housing and for the establ
ishment of a municipal park, and;
WHEREAS,the Housing Act of 1950,Section 604,provides
that a housing project cannot be conveyed to a city if the 1940
poplulation does not exceed 30%of the population of the project,
and;
WHEREAS,the population of the City of Moses •'-ake because
of the extreme growth, now exceeds the population of the housing
project by approximately 18 times and the Housing Act of 1950 was
not meant to cover this type of situation,and;
WHEREAS, the Mayor and the City Council of the City of
Moses Lake feel that the disposition of this housing project
should be in accordance with the said Housing Act of 1950 where
the population of the public housing does not exceed 30%of the
population of the City as is now the case in the City of Moses
Lake,that is the same should be sold to the City of Moses Lake,
and;
WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Council of the City of Moses
Lake, Washington, have approved and adopted an official plan as
part of the comprehensive plan for the City of Moses Lake, all
in accordance with the recommendations of the Planning Commission
of the City of Moses Lake,which plan now prescribes the land
occupied by said housing projects for future recreational and
cultural uses in the City of Moses Lake,
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED hggMrm iMiyM AM\City
Council of the City of Moses Lake, Washington, that
legislation be instituted in the United States Senate and the
Resolution:1

United States House of Representative to allow the sale of
the housing projects WASH-45206 and WASH-V 45402 to the City
of Moses Lake and they do hereby request that such legislation
be instituted jointly by Senator Warren G.Magnuson in the
Senate and Representative Hal Holmes in the House.
