WHEREAS the City of Hoses Lake,Washington,has had a very-
substantial and ste;rowth during the past six years;and,
WHEREAS the Planning Commission and the City Council of the
City of Moses Lake have prepared and completed an official plan and
land use zoning ordinance for the city;and,
WHEREAS the City of Moses Lake and the surrounding area is
expected,to continue to grow with the maturity of the Columbia Basin
Project,the expansion of industry and military installations;and,
there are three major centralized settlements on the
periphery of Moses Lake at this time which are also growing without the
benefit of much control of their land uses;and,
EREAS it is a universally accepted principle that mixed and
unorganized land uses are detrimental and depreciative of property values.
MOW THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED that the Planning Commission and
the 8ity Council of the City of Moses Lake do hereby urge that the Board
of Commissioners of Grant County,duly elected by all the people of said
County,should reinstate a Planning Commission to advise in the matters
of planning and zoning to the extent that urban,residential,commercial
and industrial uses may be better protected and further,that the benefits
received from zoning and organized planning inside the municipal corpor-
ates of Grant County will not be depreciated nor lost as a result of in
discriminate uses in the County.
