RESOLUTION NO./7 /
WHEREAS,the 1959 state legislature enacted a law entitled
"The Washington Minimum Wage and Hour Act",which act became effect
ive June 11,1959,and
WHEREAS, the provisions of said act may apply to employees of
the City of Moses Lake, and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Moses Lake has
determined that it is for the best interests of the City of Moses
Lake that the present salary schedules of city employees possibly
affected by the said act be adjusted so that the 1959 budget pre
viously adopted by the City of Moses Lake will not be increased,and
WHEREAS,in order to preserve state pension rights of firemen
and policemen employed by the City of Moses Lake, it is the intention
of the City Council to base the state pension rights on the present
salary schedule rather than on the adjusted hourly wage schedule to
be hereafter adopted to the end that the state pension rights of
said firemen and policemen will not be jeopardized,and
WHEREAS, the City Council has determined it is for the best
interests in administering the wage-hour plan to authorize the City
Administrator to make necessary adjustments of wages and hours to
stay within the present budget as may be required from time to time,
subject to review by the City Council;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AS FOLLOWS:
1.That effective June 11,1959,all city employees whose present

work schedule calls for hours in excess of eight in any twenty-
four hour period,or hours in excess of forty in any one week,
shall have said monthly salary adjusted to an hourly wage basis to
the end that the present number of hours normally worked and the
hourly wage therefor,shall not exceed the monthly salary schedule
presently in effect for said employees.
2.The state pension rights of city firemen and policemen
11 be based on the monthly salary schedule which has previously
been set by the 1959 budget,and the adjustment of said salary to
an hourly wage shall not be construed as affecting a reduction of
state pension rights for said firemen and policemen.
The City Administrator is hereby authorized and directed to
make necessary adjustments from a monthly salary basis to an hourly
wage basis for any city employee as may be required to stay within
the salary items for the 1959 budget year,said adjustment shall be
subject to review by the City Council.
