A RESOLUTION REQUESTING ADDITIONAL FUNDS FOR
THE COLUMBIA BASIN PROJECT
WHEREAS,the President's budget request of $3.9 million for the fiscal
year 1964 for the Columbia Basin Project contains virtually no funds to insure
the continued orderly development by way of bringing new land under irrigation,
and
WHEREAS,the economy of the Columbia Basin and particularly the City
of Moses Lake is dependent upon the development of the Columbia Basin Pro-
j ect to its full potential,and
WHEREAS,the City Council of the City of Moses Lake has been informed
that by including approximately $1.7 million in the proposed budget item for the
Columbia Basin Project for:the fiscal year 1964,the continued orderly develop
ment of the Columbia Basin Project could be carried on,and
WHEREAS,the future economic growth of the urban areas as well as the
rural areas in the Columbia Basin Project is geared to the completion of the
Columbia Basin Project;
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of
Moses Lake does hereby request that the budget item for the Columbia Basin
Project be increased from $3.9 million to $5.6 million to Unsure the continued
orderly development of the Columbia Basin Project thereby safeguarding the
economic future and welfare of the citizens of the Columbia Basin.
PASSED by the City Council of the City of Moses Lake and APPROVED by
