RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING APPLICATION FOR
FEDERAL GRANT FOR EXPANSION OF SEWERAGE
TREATMENT WORKS
WHEREAS the treatment of sewerage from new industrial expansion will
overload the existing sewers and sewerage treatment plant facilities of the
City of Moses Lake,thereby causing pollution of the waters of Moses Lake
by the discharge of partially treated sewerage effluent therein,and
WHEREAS it is necessary to expand the existing sewerage treatment facilities
of the City of Moses Lake to effectively treat the increased load of industrial
sewerage to guard against pollution of the waters of Moses Lake,and
WHEREAS the estimated cost of the expansion of the City of Moses Lake
sewerage treatment facilities is Two Hundred Forty Six Thousand Six Hundred
Dollars ($246,600.00)and
WHEREAS the City of Moses Lake is in need of funds to supplement monies to be
raised from the sale of sewer revenue bonds,and
WHEREAS the Department of Health,Education and Welfare,Public Health Service,
may,upon application of the City of Moses Lake,grant funds up to thirty per cent
(30%)of the estimated cost of improvements to the sewerage treatment plant as
above described,NOW,THEREFORE
BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Moses Lake make application to the Department
of Health,Education and Welfare,Public Health Service,for a grant of funds
in an amount equal to thirty per cent (30%)of the estimated cost of improvements
to the City of Moses Lake sewerage system and sewerage treatment plant,and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Manager is directed to prepare,execute
and file said application on behalf of the City of Moses Lake.

October,1964.
