376u U RESOLUTION No.376 RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE EXTENSION OF NAVIGATION ON THE UPPER COLUMVIA RIVER AND URGING THE UNITED STATES ARMY CORPS OF ENGINEERS TO COMPLETE THIS STUDY AS EXPEDITIOUSLY AS POSSIBLE WHEREAS,on September 9,1965,the Committee on Public Works of the United States Senate adopted a resolution requesting the Board of Engineers for Rivers and Harbors to review the report of the Chief of Engineers on the Columbia River and Tributaries,published as House Document No.403,76th Congress,2nd Session,and WHEREAS,the above mentioned resolution requests the Corps of Engineers to determine whether any modification of the recommendations contained in House Document 403 are advisable at the present time,with particular reference to the extension of navigation from the pool of McNary Dam through Rock Island Dam on the Columbia River,Washington,and WHEREAS,the proposed extension of navigation on the Upper Columbia River above McNary Pool is essential to the economic and industrial growth and prosperity of the immediate area affected and to the Pacific Northwest in general,and WHEREAS,this extension would have great benefit in providing a comprehensive system of transportation where all forms of transport are available to the shipping public for the movement of its commodities,NOW,THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED:That the City Council of the City of Moses Lake,Washington, in general meeting held in Moses Lake,Washington,on the 28th day of September, 1965,strongly supports the extension of navigation on the Upper Columbia River and urges the United States Army Corps of Engineers to complete this study as expeditiously as possible,so that the ultimate construction of the project will be available at the earliest possible date;and U Resolution No.376 (Continued) BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED:That copies of this resolution be forwarded to the Washington Congressional Delegation,Governor of the State of Washington, North Pacific Division Corps of Engineers,Portland,Oregon;and the Office, Chief of Engineers,Washington,D.C.
